UX DESIGNER, PRODUCT DESIGN AND CONSULTANT

I got approached to be a part of the beneko app from an early design/development stage. This meant I helped in the UX and UI proces.

Below you will find the different tasks I was involved in during this project. My main function was as a UX designer, but I worked aswell on UI and Product Design.

INTEGRATING WIREFRAMES INTO EXISTING SCREENS

A lot of this project started out with me and the client sitting down and getting ideas onto the whiteboard.

Challenge

The challenge here was to get all information out onto the whiteboard and understand what the main goal of the new functionality was going to be.

Solution

To fully understand the functionallity I would ask a lot of open questions and would start to design an intial flow on the board. This would give a visual representation of the new functionality.

From here I would work on making a digital version where I look at capabilites and contraints and adjust the flow to make it as smooth as possible.

After getting the optimized flow apporved I started the wireframing design and would integrate already designed and approved UI screens into the flow to make clear what new screens have to be designed and where they have to be integrated with already designed screens.

UI DESIGN WITH FLOW

After some wireframe phases I was asked to create UI screen suggestions to give an idea what the final product could look like and add the earlier made flow to these designs. This would be send to the UI designer for further refinement.

These UI screens are all based on already existing and approved screens.

CONSULT ON UI AND FLOW MADE BY OTHER

In a later phase of the project I got handed a powerpoint presentation showing design updates on existing screens in a chronological order with a short explentation with every screen.

I mapped these screens out in one file and added flow lines to show what the initial flow would look like. From here I look at the efficiency of the flow and made recommendations on how to improve on the current flow.

Project Benefit

The main benefit of this analysis was my recommendation to take out 4 screens and add the step that had to be taken on that specific screen to an other screen. This meant a smoother flow for the user and less work for the development team.

UX TO UI, FROM WIREFRAMES TO DESIGNED SCREENS

For many functionalities the client wanted to have a visual idea of what the final screens where going to look like. So after running through the full UX process I would create initial UI screens based on already approved screens.

The benefit of this was to address any issues in use of colors or size of specific parts of the screen. From here any last changes could be made before they got send to the UI designer or went straight to development.

UI CONCEPT DESIGN SUGGESTIONS

Apart from UX/UI designs for screens that where designed to be implemented or had an immidiate function I was also asked to design concept screens. Below you can see 3 different ways the same screen can be designed for the beneko app. Each one offers different functionality first.

The main goal was to show the different ways a homepage can be used depending on what the main goals of the homepage are.
